Forge & Monument
More than half a million tonnes of coal has been recovered from this site, near Ripley, Derbyshire, since production began in 2000. Restoration includes measures to stabilise and repair the remains of the 13th Century Codnor Castle built by the Grey family, and to the Jessop Monument and Hall built in the mid 1850's in memory of William Jessop Junior.
