The Company
Harworth Power is a subsidiary of UK COAL PLC.
Our core business activity has been the reduction of coal mine greenhouse gas emission through the conversion of mines gas into heat and power.
Through the investment in substantial environmental projects we are able to trade the CO2 emission reduction credits within the UK ETS (UK Emissions Trading Scheme) set up by DEFRA to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.
In addition to our mines gas utilisation, Harworth Power is currently pursuing planning permission for the construction of multiple wind farms with a total installed capacity of 80MW. We are strengthening our commitment to renewable energy sources through the addition of biomass fuelled power generation to our portfolio of technologies.
The business strategy of Harworth Power is evolving, we are able to utilise our skills in the drainage and utilisation of mines gas to reduce worldwide greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol.
We are currently working with a number of clients to improve mine safety and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) and JI (Joint Implementation) projects.
