Prince of Wales, Pontefract
At the end of 2006 the Company applied for its first phase of development on the former Prince of Wales colliery site at Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
The scheme, now at an advanced stage of negotiation with the Local Authority and other stakeholders, will consist of in excess of 900 new, highly sustainable and environmentally sound homes, alongside in excess of 230,000 sq ft of employment development creating up to 1,000 jobs.
The planning application was approved subject to agreement of the section 106 and was referred to government office, a decision from the government is expected at the end of October 2008. It is hoped that the installation of infrastructure will commence in 2010.
There are opportunities to extend the development in future years, building on its superb sustainable location as an exemplar urban extension to the historic market town of Pontefract at the centre of the region’s Five Towns Regeneration Initiative.
